MINUTES FROM ALL-FACULTY BUDGET MEETING

Present: UEC – Michael Abraham, Prince Charles Alexander, Dennis Cecere, Peggy Codding, Peter Cokkinias, Beth Denisch, Marti Epstein, Rich Grudzinski, Danny Harrington, Jonathan Holland, Teodros Kiros, Jeff Perry, Wendy Rolfe, Jackson Schultz, David Scott, Will Silvio and Jeri Sykes.  

  1. Jackson opened the meeting. We are here to look at the budget.
     
  2. Jeff presented the budget. Danny made a motion to approve the budget as proposed, Rich seconded, and the vote was unanimous to accept the budget.
     
  3. The UEC officers met with the Board of Trustees. The main topic was the need for additional full-time faculty by converting faculty on three-year part-time contracts. Another item discussed was the BPC opening the doors and not charge anything to get in. Last topic was having a faculty member sit on the board – received positively.
     
  4. Grad program bargaining has begun. We will be meeting with management next week to continue the discussion.
     
  5. We discussed the chairs being moved to one-year contracts.

  

Minutes from Union Executive Committee Meeting

Present – Michael Abraham, Prince Charles Alexander, Dennis Cecere, Peter Cokkinias, Beth Denisch, Marti Epstein, Danny Harrington, Jonathan HollandTeodros KirosJeff Perry, Wendy Rolfe, Jackson Schultz, David Scott, Will Silvio and Jeri Sykes. Guest: Jen Deaderick  

  1. Jeri made a motion to accept the minutes from the previous meetings. Dennis seconded and the vote was unanimous to accept the minutes.
  2. Jen Deaderick made a web presence proposal for the Social Media Consultant position.
  3. Full faculty meeting December 11 in the Steve Heck room. The budget will be the main discussion.
  4. Board of Trustees meeting. We met with the Board Tuesday Dec. 2; they were very welcoming and listened to all that we had to say with open ears. Our main focus was converting more part-time employees to full-time. We made a compelling case: they could convert 4 faculty on part-time three-year contracts to full-time instead of hiring one person off the street – the cost would be about the same.
