Minutes from All-Faculty Budget Meeting

Present UEC – Michael Abraham, Prince Charles Alexander, Dennis Cecere, Peggy Codding, Peter Cokkinias, Marti Epstein, Rich Grudzinski, Danny Harrington, Margaret McAllister, Jeff Perry, Wendy Rolfe, Jackson Schultz, David Scott, Will Silvio, and Jeri Sykes.

  1. Jackson opened the meeting.
     
  2. Jeff presented the budget. Rich made a motion to approve the budget as proposed, Peggy seconded, and the vote was unanimous.
     
  3. We discussed the merger with BoCo and specifically the faculty joining our Union.
     
  4. Conversions and criteria were discussed at length.

 

 

Minutes from Union Executive Committee Meeting

Present – Michael Abraham, Prince Charles Alexander, Dennis Cecere, Peggy Codding, Peter Cokkinias, Marti Epstein, Rich Grudzinski, Danny Harrington, Margaret McAllister, Jeff Perry, Wendy Rolfe, Jackson Schultz, David Scott, Will Silvio, Jeri Sykes, and guest: Teodros Kiros

 

  1. Danny made a motion to accept the minutes from the previous meeting. Prince Charles seconded and the vote was unanimous to accept the minutes.
     
  2. Last night was the signing of the merger in the BPC. Jackson was on stage and was involved. The the two administrations plan to sign the final legal docs by June 1.
     
  3. We discussed the upcoming bargain.
     
  4. Update on faculty arbitration regarding wrongful termination.
     
  5. We need to schedule an all-faculty meeting for the budget and general information.
     
  6. We will have a meeting with all the department reps to discuss strategy going forward.
     
  7. Newsletter update – we are working on it and it should be done before spring break.
     
  8. Faculty evaluation of chairs will occur later in the semester.
     
  9. Friday January 29, 2016 at 1 pm is the Rick Applin Memorial Concert in DFRH.
     
  10. We have five new part-time faculty members.
     
  11. Sabbatical – many faculty are being turned down.
     
  12. Information requests – names and outcomes of faculty applying for sabbatical for the past 15 years, outcomes of all salary negotiations from the past year (it is a contract violation that they have not fulfilled the request), and number of classes canceled before add/drop.
     
  13. Armstead Christian scholarship fund, we will research donating.

Minutes from Union Executive Committee Meeting

Present – Michael Abraham, Dennis Cecere, Peggy Codding, Peter Cokkinias, Marti Epstein, Rich Grudzinski, Danny Harrington, Margaret McAllister, Jeff Perry, Wendy Rolfe, Jackson Schultz, David Scott, Will Silvio and Jeri Sykes.

  1. Dennis made a motion to accept the minutes from the previous meeting. Jeri seconded and the vote was unanimous to accept the minutes.
     
  2. Jeff presented the amended budget. Marti made a motion to accept the amended budget, Peter seconded and the vote was unanimous to accept the amended budget.
     
  3. We will have a luncheon for all the department reps to look at activities headed into bargaining next summer.
     
  4. The faculty evaluation of chairs will have to wait until after the break. We will be doing a survey outside of the college – it will be completely anonymous.
     
  5. We discussed Management’s proposal of aligning BoCo’s calendar with ours, and specifically looking at the Wednesday before Thanksgiving.
     
  6. Part-time faculty are being paid for the Title IX training. It will be put into their pay once they have completed the course.
     
  7. We discussed the BoCo merger and bargaining summer of 2016.
