Minutes from Union Executive Committee Meeting

Present – Dennis Cecere, Peggy Codding, Peter Cokkinias, Marti Epstein, Rich Grudzinski, Danny Harrington, Jeff Perry, Wendy Rolfe, Jackson Schultz and Jeri Sykes.

1. Danny made a motion to accept the minutes from the previous meeting. Rich seconded and the vote was unanimous to accept the minutes.
    
2. Jackson will follow up with Larry regarding a recent arbitration that we won. The faculty member has not been compensated yet.
    
3. Jackson met with faculty that teach at both BoCo and Berklee. We have ten “dual citizens” that teach at both institutions. There are many issues with the integration of these faculty and we are working on their issues.
    
4. We discussed the merging of the BoCo faculty into our union.
    
5. The graduate program at Berklee was discussed.
    
6. The Union News – what about a blog or an article or two that can be sent out to all faculty. We have more of a presence on Facebook with David Scott running the page and getting current news out to faculty.

1. Danny made a motion to accept the minutes from the previous meeting. Marti seconded and the vote was unanimous to accept the minutes.
    
2. A BoCo faculty member is here discussing the merger and the ranking process.
    
3. Danny made a motion to hire a financial advisor to look at our long and short-term disability plans not to exceed $1000.
    
4. Commuter faculty – can the college work on a corporate rate for the Midtown Hotel? The college has corporate rates with other hotels. We are looking into the options.
    
5. We discussed national searches and conversions at the college.

Union notes from Union / Management Meeting

Management – Jay Kennedy, Kari Juusela, Darla Hanley, Bill Whitney, Jeanine Cowan, Camille Colatosti, Cathy Young, Andy Vores, Neal Donohoe, Eileen Alviti, Phil Lima.

1. Jay opened the meeting. We went around the room and introduced ourselves.
    
2. Retirement plan fees update – Phil Lima discussed several topics in detail. Open enrollment starts Monday Oct. 10. 403b plan fees – Transamerica, defined contribution plans – only certain options available with 403b. High quality and reasonably priced with a volume discount.
    
3. Bill Whitney gave a quick update on the construction throughout the college. Most program space is available; Belvedere should be done by the end of October. Could faculty have a say in how any new rooms are outfitted? Layout, materials, etc.? Yes, we have an advisory committee.
    
4. Peer comparison report – Camille Colatosti, tabled til next month or meeting later this month.
    
5. We discussed room issues briefly.
