Minutes from Union Executive Committee Meeting

Present – Prince Charles Alexander, Dennis Cecere, Peggy Codding, Peter Cokkinias, Marti Epstein, Danny Harrington, Margaret McAllister, Jeff Perry, Stephanie Reich, Wendy Rolfe, Tom Stein, Jackson Schultz, and Jeri Sykes.

  1. Marti made a motion to accept the minutes from the previous meeting. Dennis seconded and the vote was unanimous to accept the minutes.
     
  2. Jackson brought up the teacher in Lynn that was murdered. We would like to contribute $500 to the fund that has been set-up for her daughter. Unanimous decision to contribute $500 to the fund.
     
  3. We are scheduled to meet with BoCo faculty next week, 31 Hemenway Street, from 1-3 at the Main Stage. We discussed the tentative agreement that we have in preparation for next week.
     
  4. Update on recent faculty member grievance.
     
  5. The Steve Heck room prior to 9 am was discussed. Events have been set-up prior to 9 am infringing on a faculty space to meet.

  1. Danny made a motion to accept the minutes from the previous meeting. Peggy seconded and the vote was unanimous to accept the minutes.
     
  2. Clarification from last week on meetings in Liberal Arts – five meetings this semester, one is FT only.
     
  3. Meeting for BoCo faculty at Main Stage in 31 Hemenway, Thursday October 12, 1-3 to discuss the contract negotiations last summer.
     
  4. The Graduate sub-committee will be re-convened again in preparation for the bargain next summer.
     
  5. A few BoCo faculty are teaching overloads – we are working on compensation for them.
     
  6. We discussed the CORI check process and the “consent form” at the college. The consent form comes from a third-party vendor and we will check into further.
     
  7. An attempted robbery in the 1140 building was discussed. We will discuss with management next week.
     
  8. We discussed the use of the Steve Heck room before 9 am.
     
  9. 403b fees were discussed.

Present – Michael Abraham, Dennis Cecere, Peggy Codding, Peter Cokkinias, Marti Epstein, Danny Harrington, Margaret McAllister, Jeff PerryWendy Rolfe, Tom Stein, Jackson Schultz, David Scott, and Jeri Sykes.

 

  1. Danny made a motion to accept the minutes from the previous meeting. Peter seconded and the vote was unanimous to accept the minutes.
     
  2. Jackson mentioned the most recent notification that went out regarding schedules and faculty checking with their chairs ASAP. We discussed faculty schedules in specific departments and issues going forward: FT faculty first, 3-Year contract next, then PT faculty.
     
  3. Meeting with HR today regarding a faculty member against whom there are allegations.
     
  4. We discussed the CORI check process at the college. Peggy, Dennis, and Tom will be looking further into this.
     
  5. Bathroom signs were discussed. Multi-use bathrooms that don't lock may be an issue.
     
  6. Liberal Arts Department meetings are being segregated into PT and FT and this not good practice.
     
  7. We would like to set up a meeting with the Board of Trustees this fall or early next spring at the latest.
     
  8. We are looking at scheduling the BoCo faculty to discuss and possibly ratify the contract.
     
  9. Fees of the 403b plans were discussed.
     
  10. Faculty evaluation of chairs will be discussed this fall.
