Minutes from Union Executive Committee Meeting

Present – Michael Abraham, Prince Charles Alexander, Dennis Cecere, Peggy Codding, Peter Cokkinias, Marti Epstein, Rich Grudzinski, Danny Harrington, Margaret McAllister, Jeff Perry, Wendy Rolfe, Jackson Schultz, David Scott, and Jeri Sykes.

  1. Danny made a motion to accept the minutes from the previous meeting. Rich seconded and the vote was unanimous to accept the minutes.
     
  2. Jackson reviewed the meeting he had yesterday with Larry Simpson and went over the process for voluntary recognition of the BoCo faculty.
     
  3. We met with BoCo faculty last night at the Sheraton to discuss the process of joining our Union and being at the table this summer during the bargain – there was a lot of very positive energy.
     
  4. The communications committee met last night and discussed better ways to communicate with faculty and planning for the future. A survey will be going out to both Berklee and BoCo faculty very soon.

  1. Danny made a motion to accept the minutes from the previous meeting. Rich seconded and the vote was unanimous to accept the minutes.
     
  2. Marti brought up Susan Rogers is on our Grad Committee and is not on the Executive Committee. Marti made a motion to give her $500 compensation for all the extra time involved in her participation, Peggy seconded, and the vote was unanimous.
     
  3. We are looking for additional faculty members to assist in the election next week. Rich Grudzinski will cover two hours. Dino Govoni will also be on the election committee, as they are both not running for office.
     
  4. We are meeting in the Fairfax room at the Sheraton from 6:30-8:30 with BoCo faculty On Wednesday 4/26.
     
  5. BoCo contracts are coming out on May 1. The topic of the contracts and BoCo faculty coming into our Union was discussed at length.

  1. Jeri made a motion to accept the minutes from the previous meeting. Marti seconded and the vote was unanimous to accept the minutes.
     
  2. We discussed the upcoming bargain this summer. Management has agreed to accept voluntary recognition by the first of May for BoCo faculty to join our union. However, they want separate bargaining units for Berklee and BoCo. We discussed this topic at length.
     
  3. Scheduled fire alarm yesterday in 1140 brought up MANY issues about the evacuation plans here. We discussed at length.
